Asides from the obvious problems of unwanted pregnancies, adding to the overpopulation problem, messy heats, and straying dogs, there are a number of very serious, even deadly diseases that can be prevented by spaying and neutering your pet. Some examples include pyometra, mammary and ovarian cancer, prostate disease, prostate and testicular cancer.
Spaying and neutering by 6 months of age is the best prevention for both medical and behavioural problems. Spaying and neutering after 6 months of age is also extremely beneficial.
